Freiheit für Alberto Patishtán
Für eine Straftat, die er nicht begangen hat, sitzt Alberto Patishtán seit 12
Jahren unter inakzeptablen Haftbedingungen in einem mexikanischen
Gefängnis. Seine Verhaftung und Verurteilung beruhen auf der Aussage eines
einzigen Zeugen. Professor Patishtán hatte gegen den Vater des Zeugen, einen
Bürgermeister, der in Patishtán schon lange einen politischen Gegner sah, eine
Kampagne zur Veruntreuung von öffentlichen Geldern begonnen. Der Zeuge
hatte zunächst ausgesagt,15 vermummte Angreifer gesehen zu haben. Später
behauptete er dann, Patishtán sei einer der Angreifer gewesen. Ein weiterer
Zeuge, ein Polizist, konnte diese Aussage nicht bestätigen, drei weitere Zeugen
entlasteten Patishtán im Prozess. Dennoch wurde er wegen mehrfachen
Mordes und Besitz militärischer Waffen zur Höchststrafe von 60 Jahren Haft
verurteilt.
Zweimal trat Professor Patishtán innerhalb der 12 Jahre Haft in Hungerstreik.
Beim ersten Hungerstreik wurden alle 47 politischen Gefangenen im
Bundesstaat Chiapas freigelassen – nur er nicht. Als Ergebnis des zweiten
Hungerstreiks wurde Patishtán vor 8 Monaten in einem
Hochsicherheitsgefängnis in Isolationshaft genommen. Dort darf er lediglich
alle 2 Wochen einmal besucht und einmal angerufen werden, 15 Minuten
täglich bei Tageslicht verbringen, während nachts das Licht angelassen wird.
Diese Haftbedingungen gelten als moderne Foltermethode.
Eine weitere dramatische Menschenrechtsverletzung besteht in der
Vorenthaltung medizinischer Versorgung. Patishtan benötigt diese dringend, da
er an einer Augenkrankheit leidet, die unbehandelt zur Erblindung führen wird.
Vom 8. bis 15. Juni 2012 findet daher eine weltweite Aktionswoche zur
Befreiung von Alberto Patishtán Gómez und Francisco Sántiz López (einem
weiteren politischen Gefangenen und Mitglied der zapatistischen Bewegung)
unter dem Motto „Die Mauern der Gefängnisse umwerfen“ statt.
Wir fordern von Präsident Felipe Calderón die sofortige Freilassung von
Alberto Patishtán und Francisco Sántiz López.

Encarcelado por un delito que no cometió, Alberto Patishtán sigue siendo preso
en una cárcel mexicana bajo condiciones insoportables. Su detención y
sentencia se basan en la declaración de un solo testigo. Antes el Profesor
Patishtán había empezado a montar una campaña contra el padre de este
testigo, un alcalde, por desfalco de fondos públicos, y por tanto éste concebía a
Patishtán como enemigo político. Al principio el testigo declaró haber visto a 15
asaltantes encapuchados. Más tarde afirmó que Patishtán era uno de esos
asaltantes. Otro testigo, un policía, no podía confirmar esta declaración, y
además otros tres testigos exculparon a Patishtán. Sin embargo, se le dió la
pena máxima de 60 años de prisión por múltiple asesinato y posesión de
armas militares.
Durante sus 12 años de arresto entró en huelga de hambre dos veces el
profesor Patishtán. La primera vez se liberó a tod@s sus 47 compañer@s en
Chiapas – sólo él se quedó preso. Como resultado de la segunda huelga de
hambre, hace 8 meses, le trasladaron a una prisión de alta seguridad donde
está incomunicado. Eso implica que sólo le permiten recibir una visita y hacer
una llamada cada dos semanas, y sólo puede estar 15 minutos diarios con luz
del día mientras en las noches le dejan la luz encendida. Esas condiciones se
entienden como formas de tortura modernas ya que le presionan
extremamente sin dejar huellas físicas ningunas.
Otra violación de los derechos humanos consiste en la negación de asistencia
médica. Patishtán la necesita urgentemente visto que sufre de una afección
ocular que si no recibe tratamiento ninguno le causará la pérdida de la vista.
Por eso, entre el 8 y el 15 de junio de 2012, tiene lugar una semana de lucha
mundial por la libertad de Alberto Patishtán Gómez y Francisco Sántiz López
(otro preso pólitico y compañero del movimiento zapatista) con el lema de
tumbar las paredes del calabozo.
Le exigimos al presidente Felipe Calderón la liberación inmediata de Alberto Patishtán y Francisco Sántiz López.

For a criminal act he never commited, Alberto Patishtán is now for 12 years
held in a Mexican prison under unacceptable conditions. His imprisonment and
his conviction is based on the testimony of just one witness, a survivor of the
ambush. Professor Patishtán initiated a campaign about the misappropriation
of funds against the father of the witness, a mayor for whom Patishtán had
long been a political opponent. Originally the witness had declared to have
seen 15 masked aggressors but later he claimed that Patishtán had been one
of the aggressors. Another witness, a policeman, did not confirm this
testimony while three other witnesses exonerated Patishtán in the legal
proceeding. Nevertheless he was convicted to the maximum penalty of 60
years for multiple murder and the possession of military arms.
Professor Patishtán went on hunger strike twice during his 12 years of
imprisonment. After the first hunger strike all 47 political prisoners in the state
of Chiapas were released – except of him. As a consequence of the second
hunger strike Patishtán was transfered to a high security prison 8 months ago
and since then is held in solitary confinement. There he is only allowed to have
visitors and to receive a phone call once every two weeks. He can only spend
15 minutes a day outside to see daylight, whereas lights are kept on constantly
at nighttime. These conditions of imprisonment have to be categorized as a
modern method of torture.
Another serious human rights violation is the withholding of medical attention
for Patishtán. He depends on medical treatment since he is suffering from a
serious eye disease that will result in him going blind if it is not treated.
Therefore from June 8th until June 15th there will take place a global week of
action for the liberation of Alberto Patishtán Gómez and Francisco Sántiz López
(another political prisoner who is part of the Zapatista movement) under the
slogan „Knock down the walls of prison“.
